Case Study

Outdated Paper Trails to an Incredible Mobile App

Company_overview

Company Overview

Our client for this mobile app development project is an old-timer in the Indian insurance industry. With over 70 insurance solutions catering to individuals and businesses, our client specializes in safeguarding personal and commercial interests. However, this client relied excessively on physical records to manage customer information, resulting in errors and outdated information.

Recognizing the need for a digital transformation, our client approached Tridhya Tech with a clear vision. They wanted an app that would not only eliminate manual work but also mirror the familiar interface and features of Microsoft Excel. Moreover, they aimed for the app to be user-friendly and run seamlessly across all digital devices. This case study will delve into how we brought this vision to life.

Business Challenges

  • Formula Replication & Cross-Device Compatibility

The first challenge was translating the code and formulas from Excel to the mobile app’s code. Even the slightest mistake can lead to incorrect premium calculations. Also, the calculations had to be the same across all platforms and devices.

  • Compatibility Issues

Integrating new functionality with the existing Cordova-based app can backfire without careful planning and execution. The app must function smoothly to deliver optimal performance during user interactions and premium calculations.

  • Clean User Interface

Ensuring a clean and user-friendly interface was crucial to facilitate easy navigation and calculations. Furthermore, the premium information and other details had to appear clearly on the mobile screen to facilitate comparisons.

Challanges

Business Solution

Replicates Excel Sheet Calculations

Tridhya Tech developed a new app from scratch that incorporated the logic used in Excel sheet formulas, ensuring accurate and uniform results during premium calculations for each plan.

iOS and Android Compatibility

The new app will work seamlessly with Android and iOS devices, ensuring excellent compatibility. Cross-platform development platforms have tools and libraries for device-specific functionalities while providing a single codebase for premium calculations.

Clean User-Interface

The mobile app needed a clean and user-friendly interface to facilitate coherent data input and viewing of premium calculatio ns. We designed an app with an intuitive UI using elements familiar to mobile users, including interactive forms, clear labels, and structured labels.

Conclusion

It took us some time to develop a custom mobile application to suit our client’s needs, but the results made it worthwhile. Replicating the calculation logic from the existing Excel sheets to the plan was challenging, but we did it. App users left positive feedback about navigation, premium calculation capabilities, and an enhanced user experience. The insurance quote process is more streamlined than before.

We used a Waterfall-Agile hybrid approach, resulting in an innovative app that performs seamlessly across Android and iOS devices.
